Welcome Saint Romain en Viennois has a cafe, restaurant and municipal tennis court. It's only three kilometres outside Vaison La Romaine, a fashionable summer resort featuring a partially excavated Roman town (the largest archaeological site in France) and a stunning Medieval district. Vaison's colourful Tuesday open-air market is one of the largest in Provence. The Roman theatre hosts a modern dance festival during July. This past summer Vaison once again featured the triennial choral festival, Les Choralies. The surrounding countryside is famous for its wine (Côtes du Rhône Villages Puyméras and Côtes du Ventoux), its olives, excellent cycling and walking. Avignon, the Pont du Gard, Arles, the Camargue and Mediterranean beaches are all easy day trips. |
